Right, here’s the schtory.
Today FM are great in fairness to them. They had ‘Breakdown’ as the song of the week on the Ian Dempsey show the end of November and now meself and herself are heading in the Alison Curtis ‘Christmas Special’ show* the 17th December. She’s doing the mince pies etc (herself is, like, not Alison), and I’m doing the tunes. There will be a small studio audience and Christmas cheer will no doubt abound.
Go Christmas! Yeah!
*I was hoping they’d call it something funky, like ‘Alison & Eds Happy Christmas Hoe-Down’, but they don’t seem keen on that for some reason. Or maybe they’re just crrrrraazy busy and don’t have time to be answering dorky suggestion emails from me.
ANYWAYS!
I’m doing two of my own, and two Christmas tunes also. I’ve picked one of the Christmas tunes, but have no idea what to do for the second one.
So. Open to the floor. What do you guys think I should do?
I presume I’ll be able to record the thing somehow, so for those of you who aren’t able to tune in we can get it up on the web for your listening pleasure.

heya bill
with you and your amazing ability to use the loop pedal i challenge you to do a take on Non Nobis Domine
i have sung this with large choirs every christmas and it starts off with a soloist(me) with each layer building on top of it until the end
here is the original full version…..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1GDRx-F1C0
its very old school but i know you’d be well up for it and be able to pick up the pace and make some noise!!
merrrrrrrrry christmas!
meg
Epic… Thanks Meg : )
I’ve given this about 2 minutes thought and ……
‘Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer’ would be hilarious!
My favourite Xmas tune is ‘Christmas Lullaby’ but Grandma would be funny!
Love the photo!
Whosoever took it…!
All about the shameless self promotion at the mo!
I think you should sing the Kylie version of ‘Santa Baby’. Or if you’re doing one of your own, do ‘Lady Love’ because its your song I love the most.
Will you be making it down to the midlands over the festive season?
Will be in Cork on the 29th if you’re about.
Ciara – The Shack, this Saturday, the 12th!
‘Santa Baby’ could be interesting alright
I think you should do Aled Jones’ Walking In The Air. You might need to wear slightly tighter underwear than normal to ensure you get the full soprano range but sure the best art comes from some sort of anguish ;-p
You know how I love a challenge Adrian!
‘I believe in father christmas’ by Greg Lake and ‘Fight no more’ by yerself.
Or even….how about ‘Marys boy child’ by Bony M…and you could get Allison to do the ‘deep’ parts for a laugh!
Bony M. Good shout Mairtín. Let’s see what Alison says!
Christmas in Killarney! It’s huuuuuge here

Sleepless – thank you from the bottom of my heart.
This is the funniest thing I’ve seen on Youtube in ages – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGstrljksN0
I think it’s the gradually more drunken behaviour as the vid goes on that really sells it. That and the whiskey flying everywhere at the end!
Hey Bill…
Surely it’s got to be Slade’s Merry Christmas Everybody? The ultimate crimbo song (with the possible exceptions of the Fairytale of New York and Nat King Cole’s Chestnuts roasting…)
Or if you want to break some new ground there’s always the Christmas song I wrote with a buddy of mine a few years ago:
http://www.eoghanosullivan.com/music/demos/perfect-christmas.mp3
We agree on Slade Eoghan
Cracking tune.
I don’t want no “Ho ho ho” though – good job!
And a jazz chord at the end… Ooooohhh. Delicious
I prefer religious Christmas songs of late – “Mary Did You Know” is one of my favorites.
Awesome. But I don’t think the world is ready for my ‘religious’ phase yet Natalie…
Fair play, then. What about “Baby It’s Cold Outside?” Would be a lovely duet.
I’ll have to practise lots to do both parts! I’ll get cracking Natalie!
I think you are versatile enough to handle it.
