What not to forget when you go to the airport…

Would definitely advise the next time you go to the airport that you NOT forget one of these…

One of these things...

If you happen to be leaving the country of course...

In any case, big kudos to Derek the taxi dude who whizzed me from Dublin airport to my place and back again to the airport in time for me to catch my flight to Amsterdam.  I did a little imagining of the phone conversation I’d have had about re-arranging a gig at such short notice.   Not a happy daydream that…

That little adventure over, glad to report that Holland is great !  Wonderful people the Dutch !  Some of them are even mad enough to study Irish, and do Gaelic Football (or Gah, as we’d have said at home in Cork, back in the day) workshops !  I stayed in Amsterdam for the night, and headed onwards to Utrecht to do my bit for Seachtain na Gaeilge.  I even wheeled out the Irish Language version “Abair é le Dúshlán” for the occaision.  Marvellous.

The gig took place in a canal bank cellar, very atmospheric, definitely one of the more interesting settings for a gig I’ve done.

Thanks to Nike for organising everything, to Dennis for helping with the sonics, to Dorus, Bart and Desiree for their company and linguistic jokes and the beer.  Mmmmm…  much more to Holland than Heineken, I’m glad to report.
